Well known name is the Blue Mosque among the foreigners even though its real name Sultanahmet Mosque. The only mosque of the six minarets of Istanbul was built by Sedefkar Mehmet Aga for Sultan Ahmed I in the early 17th century. The mosque has 260 windows, the windows covered with stained glass, ornamented with flower motives.There is a rich visual diversity with the İznik Tiles, that’s why forigners calls it the name of Blue Mosque.
In order to visiting mosque, you have to take your shoes off before you get in, cover your body and head.
You can take pictures but it’s not regarded as spectful to take a Picture of somebody praying. All mosques in Turkey are open for visitors in all days of the week but you can only enter between the prayer times.
For reach to Sultanahmet you can use Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram-line.
From the Anatolian side, you can reach the Tram-line using the Kadıköy-Eminönü and Üsküdar-Eminönü ferry.
